Stamford Hospital will host a Trauma Awareness & Safety Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. , May 1,at the Tully Health Center, 32 Strawberry Hill Court, Stamford.
The event will provide health services to the Stamford community through literature and screenings, educate and raise awareness about trauma and promote healthy living habitsS
The free program, open to the public, will feature hands-on learning about smart choices and safe habits. Community and state exhibitors will ?provide information on topics such as: alcohol and drug abuse, bicycle, car and car seat safety, child safety, disaster preparedness, distracted driving, elderly safety, fall safety and prevention, fire safety and prevention, fractures and bone mass, medication safety, pedestrian safety, poison control, self-defense, swimming, safety and trauma statistics.
A number of participants will provide information to attendees, including: Stamford Hospital, Health & Fitness Institute, Stamford Emergency Medical Services, The City of Stamford Health and Social Services Department, CT Department of Public Health, CT Department of Transportation, CT State Police, CT Poison Control, ?SAFEKIDS Fairfield County, SADD, MADD, ONS Foundation, Lower Fairfield County Regional Action Council, Domestic Violence Crisis Center, Stew Leonard III Children?s Charities, Lifeline, Jazzercise Fitness Center and Darien Krav Maga & Conditioning.
Attendees can receive blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, pulmonary function, vision and balance screenings free of charge at the event. Self-defense demonstrations will be available. ?In addition, prizes will be given away, including a car seat, bike helmets, exercise videos and gym memberships.
