Shen Wei Dance Arts (SWDA) is an internationally renowned contemporary dance company that creates interdisciplinary and cross cultural works for forward looking audiences. SWDA is currently seeking an independent and creative undergraduate or graduate student for a position as Assistant to the Executive Director.

This internship offers an inside look into the day to day operations of a multi faceted, fast paced arts organization at the executive level. Duties will be varied daily but may include maintaining the Executive Director?s schedule, correspondence with vendors and presenters, research, and development of marketing materials.

Candidates should be energetic, eager to learn and have a self starter attitude. Some general qualifications include proficiency in Microsoft Office and Internet research. Photoshop and Final Cut Pro proficiency is a plus.??Candidates should have excellent professional, interpersonal, and organizational skills.??Also, due to the fast paced nature of this organization, candidates must be able to manage many tasks at once.

This is a summer unpaid internship but can be taken for academic credit. Interns should expect to work 15 to 20 hours per week from the SWDA office, located at 135 West 29th Street. Typically, scheduling is flexible from M to F, 10am to 6pm. When available, free access is offered to SWDA Open Technique Classes for those with a dance background.??All interns will have the opportunity to observe company in rehearsals.
