The Boss Takes SXSW; Blago's Early Morning Farewell

We realize there's only so much time one can spend in a day watching new trailers, viral video clips, and shaky cell phone footage of people arguing on live television. This is why every day The Atlantic Wire highlights the videos that truly earn your five minutes (or less) of attention. Today: The Boss takes Austin, Rod Blagojevich says goodbye, and racism mars the most competitive NCAA Tournament game of the day.

Rod Blagojevich reported to prison today. This was no doubt very upsetting for the former Illinois governor and his family, but also for his neighbors, who had to have been awakened by the pre-dawn media circus that erupted outside of Blago's Chicago house. Just listen to it, then watch it and observe the pitch-black sky. We're talking pre-4:30 a.m. here, easy. Those poor, sleepy people. [via AP]

Bruce Springsteen knows what he's doing. If you don't think so, watch his keynote address at South by Southwest in Austin today. There's only one name for someone who can show up disheveled, raspy, and possibly hungover and deliver an (apparently) off-the-cuff lecture on the history of popular music, technology, and social change in America: The Boss. March Madness is a terrific time of year. Not terrific at all, however, are the yahoos who chanted "Where's your Green Card?" at Kansas State guard Angel Rodriguez during KSU's first round victory over Southern Mississippi today. In addition to being racist and highly unsporting, the chanters weren't even close to being right, since Rodriguez was born in San Juan, but is the pride of Krop High School in Miami. The moon -- turner of tides, creator of werewolves -- came from humble beginnings. How humble? Accordingly to a typically hypnotic NASA video, it formerly was a big ball of fire, until a series of cosmic caramel popcorn landed on it and it became the moon we know and love. [NASA]
