MakerBot uncovers the miracle of 3D printed 'bot making (video)

MakerBot uncovers the miracle of 3D printed 'bot making (video)

There are few things out there that can send you into a shame spiral of career despair quite as quickly as watching a group of people with arguably one of the funnest jobs in the world. People like the MakerBot 3D design team, who were tasked with assembling an army of cuddly robots a "petting zoo" for this weekend's Maker Faire in the San Francisco Bay Area. Now, granted, we're sure they all work hard, but we can't help but feel a little jealous at the opportunity to design kid-friendly 'bots using the company's Replicator 3D printer. Check out a video of the team in action after the break.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg says mobile apps the top focus, we say it's about time

Mister Mark Zuckerberg

Facebook has been making a lot of promises during a tour to drum up interest in its ever-nearing IPO, but the one gadget-heads have been wanting to hear the most, a commitment to its mobile apps, has been elusive -- until now. Everyone's favorite hooded CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, is telling investors in his home 'burg of the San Francisco Bay that mobile is front and center in his company's plans. We're hoping that means new app features, although Zuck is likely referring to money-making as well: shareholders are jittery knowing that Facebook makes most of its money on web ads that it's not running on smartphones and tablets. Paid titles in App Center will go a long way towards scratching that itch, mind you. As for us, we'll just be happy if Facebook takes less than a year and a half to produce a major tablet app.

Digital Wallet Battle Heats Up As Visa And MasterCard Enter The Game

mastercard-paypassThis week, two of the major players in the credit card industry, Visa and MasterCard launched their online digital wallet services. Known as V.me (Visa's) and PayPass Wallet Services (MasterCard), both are very?similar?initiatives which see the companies clamoring to become the credit card of choice for digital transactions, the way they fight today to be the credit card for all the other transactions taking place out there in the real world. And, to be clear, a "digital" wallet isn't necessarily the same as a "mobile wallet," although a digital wallet service could also be housed in a mobile app interface, as both MasterCard and Visa plan on offering in the near future.

It's a Girl for Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky!

Chris Hemsworth may be a key part of the biggest movie on the planet, but his wife truly gave him a reason to celebrate yesterday in London: she gave birth to a baby girl!

Elsa Pataky and Chris Hemsworth

Multiple sources confirm that Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky welcomed their first child together yesterday afternoon, a daughter named India.

Said Pataky in January, not long after going public with the announcement of her pregnancy:

"Having the person that you love by your side, and starting a family with them, is the best thing that can happen to you in this life. You can't ask for more."

By the hammer of Thor, she's right. We send our very best to this new and growing family!
