Business School Admissions Blog | MBA Admission Blog | Blog ...

Although UCLA Anderson might not be as well known internationally as other top-ranked U.S. business schools, it has invested in the development of resources dedicated to international business. International courses include ?International Business Economics,? ?Global Operations Strategy? and ?Business and Economics in Emerging Markets,? which explores market reform processes in Latin America, Eastern Europe and Asia, paying particular attention to issues such as privatization, political and economic risk and global competitiveness.

Meanwhile, approximately 20% of each class of Anderson students study abroad for one quarter at some point in the MBA program, choosing from 47 partner institutions at which to take courses, as part of the school?s International Exchange Program. Among others, students may study at the China Europe International Business School in China, the Indian Institute of Management in Bangalore, the Warsaw School of Economics and the University of Witwatersrand at Wits Business School in South Africa. Most students take courses in English, though some international exchange programs offer opportunities to learn and study in other languages. UCLA Anderson students interested in improving their skills in a foreign language while on campus can take language courses in Korean, Chinese, Spanish or French. Students can also choose to complete their required second-year Applied Management Research project (AMR) outside the United States, and those interested in an international AMR in the field of microfinance can apply to the UCLA Center for International Business Education & Research for financial support.

Indeed, at Anderson, international opportunities (quietly) abound?

Diddy Says G. Dep's Murder Conviction Is 'A Shame'

'It all stemmed from substance abuse,' Combs says in response to G. Dep's second-degree murder charge.

Not long after Diddy turned heads at Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group press conference on Wednesday, he appeared on Funkmaster Flex's Hot 97 radio show and addressed the recent tribulations of two of his former Bad Boy artists: G. Dep and Mase.

According to Diddy, G. Dep, who was recently convicted of second-degree murder on a 1993 shooting charge stemming from a botched robbery in Harlem, became a different person when severe substance-abuse issues took hold of his life.

"None of that was in G. Dep's nature. When there were certain things that he was going through with the substance-abuse situation, he would be a different person. But on an everyday [basis], he was probably one of the nicest, most quiet, shyest, most humble cats that was out there," he told Flex. "I was like, OK, maybe he was under the influence when he confessed. And then out of nowhere, they said he was convicted, which was such a shame, because he's such a great talent. And it all stemmed from substance abuse."

Diddy also recently got a surprise when recording for the remix to Wale's "Slight Work." He was paired with his former right-hand man Mase, a platinum-selling rapper who was rumored to be a new signee of Ross' Maybach Music Group earlier this week.

"Me and Mase are cool. We've kept in touch over the years. I love Mase," he told Flex of the MC who once retired to become a preacher. "If it wasn't for Mase, I wouldn't be where I was at today. Me and him were like Batman and Robin. So it felt good to get back on a record with him, and it's one of the hottest, most intense records in the club. That's what I specialize in. And then talking that talk."

Last week Mase addressed a rumor that he might be signing with Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group. "[Rico Love] just called and asked me to take a ride with him — I didn't know who was gonna be in the studio," Mase explained. "I got there and everybody was there, and they just said, 'Take a flick.' The next thing I know I got a Maybach chain, I got 20 beats from Kanye. The stories just keep getting crazier."

Steve Jobs Played FDR in 1984 and It's Impossibly Weird [Video]

We promise you, in the name of every religion, that this is the most bizarre thing you've have seen in a while: in 1984, Apple created this WWII-themed short film to inspire employees at a corporate retreat in Hawaii. Steve Jobs plays FDR. Steve Jobs plays FDR. Steve Jobs plays FDR. More »

Tizen 1.0 Larkspur arrives, fuels your open-source phone dreams

Tizen screen captures

The unveiling of Tizen left many mobile open-source aficionados wondering when the OS would reach its all-important 1.0 status. The answer is now: the coalition between Intel, Panasonic, Samsung and a raft of carriers has posted the first non-beta release in both source code and software development kit forms. The finished versions of either carry new features to reward developers for the wait: SDK users get a new browser-based simulator and a faster emulator, while those scouring the source code will find new point-of-interest and route searching features in location-aware apps as well as WiFi Direct and more HTML5 support. About the only wait left is for an actual Tizen phone to ship.
